NSUK Final Year Student Builds an Aerial Vehicle (Drone)
Usman Aminu, a final year student of Nasarawa State University, Keffi from the department of Computer Science designed an 'Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (Drone). The project which was closely supervised by Dr. U. M Mbanaso was titled 'Design & Implementation of Autopilot System for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (Drone).
'The major inspiration was my supervisor Dr. Uche M. Mbanaso who threw the topic as a challenge to us, I accepted, and in the end I was the one who gained more from his vast wealth of knowledge and experience'. Aminu revealed in an exclusive interview with NSUK Guide/Campus Watch.
The young scientist went on to share his experience while executing the project where he outlined some challenges he encountered. 'Most of the components were bought online outside Nigeria, so funding was one of the major challenge'.
Moreso, working environment was another feat he had to deal with. 'I needed a lab to work but we currently do not have a functional laboratory, so most the work was done at home, and most of the tools were provided for me by my supervisor and the rest I had to borrow'. He added.
While waiting for his external defence, Aminu revealed to this reporter that the project has since been completed and submitted to the department in partial fulfilment of the requirements for a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science.
