NSUK Final Year Student Builds an Aerial Vehicle (Drone)

Usman Aminu, a final year student of Nasarawa State University, Keffi from the department of Computer Science designed an 'Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (Drone). The project which was closely supervised by Dr. U. M Mbanaso was titled 'Design & Implementation of Autopilot System for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (Drone).

'The major inspiration was my supervisor Dr. Uche M. Mbanaso who threw the topic as a challenge to us, I accepted, and in the end I was the one who gained more from his vast wealth of knowledge and experience'. Aminu revealed in an exclusive interview with NSUK Guide/Campus Watch.

The young scientist went on to share his experience while executing the project where he outlined some challenges he encountered. 'Most of the components were bought online outside Nigeria, so funding was one of the major challenge'.
Moreso, working environment was another feat he had to deal with. 'I needed a lab to work but we currently do not have a functional laboratory, so most the work was done at home, and most of the tools were provided for me by my supervisor and the rest I had to borrow'. He added.

While waiting for his external defence, Aminu revealed to this reporter that the project has since been completed and submitted to the department in partial fulfilment of the requirements for a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science.

JAMB Cancels Use of Scratch Cards, Restructures Website.

JAMB Cancels Use of Scratch Cards, Restructures website.

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board has officially effected the cancellation of use of scratch cards, and has further redesigned it’s portal to cater for the new changes. Although the portal seems to still be under construction as some facilities are not yet active.
With the new system in place, candidates will now be required to have internet enabled ATM cards to be able to print their JAMB result slips, Admission letter or use any e-facility (More details on the internet enabled ATM cards will be explained later). Alternatively, parents can also help their children make payments, BUT if you have more than one Child, you can only purchase for just 1, as 1 account can only process services for 1 JAMB registration number/candidate. This simply means if you purchase JAMB result slip for JAMB registration number 77552233GH, you can purchase JAMB admission letter and other services for only 77552233GH.
It is therefore advisable for candidates themselves to open a bank account (if they dont have), create a JAMB account using their emails and phone numbers, which will be used for the 2017 UTME Registration.
As for scratch card vendors, cafe operators, business centres, the new JAMB system has been designed to
limit or totally prevent multiple requests from different JAMB registration numbers. You will therefore have to find alternatives or maybe register as an accredited JAMB centre.
Furthermore, all previous scratch cards have now been invalidated. So if you previously had any scratch card, USED or UNUSED, you can no longer use them on the new portal. Even if you would like to re-print your result slip or JAMB admission letter, you will need repay to do that. If you initially saved the document somewhere, good for you.
Whether or not this restriction will be lifted to allow candidates, who don’t have bank account an option, only time will tell. Better still if you are hoping to register for the 2017 UTME, its advisable you open a bank account, besides you need one as a student and in general.
Some of the systems currently described above may change as the 2017 UTME registration draws closer, but until then, JAMB no longer uses scratch cards.

NSUK GETS NEW DEPUTY VICE-CHANCELLORS

The Senate Thursday October 27, 2016 at its 59th Regular meeting has approved Vice-Chancellor's nominations of two new Deputy Vice-Chancellors in the persons of Prof. Musa Inuwa Fodio, who until now is the Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies (SPGS) and a Professor of Accounting and Finance and was assigned the Academic portfolio while Dr. Mrs. Grace Rinret Ishaku Pennap, Director, School of Preliminary Studies and Associate Professor of Health Microbiology was elevated and assigned the Administration portfolio.
The VC made the surprised announcement as the Senate meeting draws to a close. He thanked the outgoing principal officers and praised them for their hard-work, cooperation and commitment in carrying out their briefs during what he termed "an eventful" two year period. The new appointments were consistent with his declared philosophy of rejuvenating his four year tenure after marking his midterm (Oct. 08, 2014 to Oct. 08, 2016) with a report that self assessed and chronicled the administration's performance. He congratulated the new appointees and charged them to be diligent and committed to the tasking challenges ahead.

Prof. M. I. Fodio

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic)

Prof. Fodio was born 57 years ago at Nasarawa town, Nasarawa State. He obtained Ph.D and M.Sc Accounting and Finance at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and B.Sc Accounting from the University of Jos. He was promoted Professor in 2015 and is richly published in national and international refereed journals.

Dr. Mrs. G. R. I. Pennap

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration)

Dr. Pennap herself was born 57 years ago at Langtang, Plateau State. The Associate Professor of Health Microbiology obtained her Ph.D Public Health (Microbiology), M.Sc Microbiology and B.Sc Zoology from the same prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. She also has numerous published scholarly journal papers in several local and international refereed journals.

The duo succeeded Dr. Sa'adatu Hassan Liman and Prof. Yakubu Boyi Ngwai who were until now Deputy Vice-Chancellors (Academic and Administration) respectively.

vector

Yesterday, the internet was put in a frenzy of both rage and excitement as one of the top artistes in the nation, decided on ‘schooling’ a fan by telling him, ‘School is not for everyone, just drop out and pursue your dreams.’ Now, in as much as I would love to share my thoughts on his rants from the moment he posted the above to the very last tweet that emerged from his account, I’d let things slide and focus on the topic, how exactly does education impact today’s music industry.
